The Beginning
🌱 From Humble Beginnings to Hemp Trailblazer
Franny Tacy was raised with farming in her blood. Growing up in Nashville, TN, she learned firsthand the values of hard work, stewardship, and resilience from her cattle-farming father and her trailblazing banking executive mother. These early influences planted the seeds of her lifelong passion for plant medicine, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture.
Franny's journey took her from Tennessee to Arizona, where she studied forestry at Northern Arizona University and lived communally on a farm with gardens, animals, and a deepening connection to the land. She later earned a master's in education from Tennessee State University and went on to lead a successful 12-year career in pharmaceutical sales. But her growing disillusionment with what she calls the “unhealthcare system” prompted a radical shift—from Pharma to Farm.
In 2012, Franny returned to the soil, purchasing raw land in Leicester, NC, and launching Franny's Farm, now the beating heart of what would become Franny's Farmacy. By 2017, she had unknowingly made history as the first woman in North Carolina to legally plant hemp in over 75 years.

Today, Franny's work goes far beyond the fence lines of her farm. She's a nationally recognized advocate for cannabis reform, working closely with lawmakers, fellow entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to shape a more transparent, ethical, and sustainable hemp industry. Whether she's speaking at legislative hearings, hosting educational events, or mentoring other cannabis business owners, Franny is constantly pushing boundaries and rewriting the rules.
Though the farm remains the heart and soul of Franny's Farmacy, the mission has evolved. What began as a local wellness effort has grown into a movement rooted in community, plant wisdom, and real change—all led by a woman who's unafraid to get her hands dirty and her voice heard.

🌿 Seed to Shelf, Hemp & Health
In 2018, Franny took the next bold step in her mission to bring hemp wellness to the people by opening the very first Franny's Farmacy Dispensary in the heart of downtown Asheville, North Carolina. It was one of the first woman-owned hemp dispensaries in the Southeast, setting a new standard for transparency, education, and customer trust in the emerging CBD space.
What started as a single storefront has since grown into a thriving dispensary network, with three Franny's Farmacy-owned locations across Western North Carolina, and two independently owned franchise locations in Hickory and Raleigh, NC. Each location reflects the spirit of the brand—rooted in education, community, and a dedication to wellness from the ground up.
As demand for clean, effective, and trustworthy hemp products has grown, so too has the need to scale without compromise. Franny's Farmacy continues to work directly with local farmers in Western North Carolina who share a commitment to regenerative agriculture and sustainable growing practices. Every hemp plant used in our products is grown with care, harvested with integrity, and fully traceable.
To further ensure purity and potency, every product is third-party tested through DEA-certified labs, allowing us to maintain the highest standards in an industry still lacking uniform regulation. This rigorous approach—from seed to shelf—ensures that customers can trust what they're putting into their bodies and feel good about where it came from.

Franny's Farmacy is more than a CBD brand. We are a health and wellness company built from the plant up, with roots in farming, manufacturing, education, advocacy, retail, wholesale, distribution, affiliates, and franchising.
Our story began before hemp was federally legal.
Founder Franny Tacy became the first female farmer in North Carolina—and the 11th farmer in the country—to legally plant hemp. What began as a true seed-to-shelf company has evolved into a trusted wellness brand that now works with experienced growers and partners across the industry while continuing to manufacture, distribute, and sell more than 90% of our own products.
That history matters because we understand this plant from the soil forward.
Today, every Franny's product is built around the same standards that shaped us from the beginning: clean ingredients, trusted sourcing, rigorous testing, consistency, potency, and purpose. Our products are backed by Certificates of Analysis, giving our customers confidence in what they are putting into their bodies.
We believe in the power of the whole plant. Many of our products are formulated with full-spectrum hemp distillate, bringing together naturally occurring cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant compounds that work synergistically through what is commonly called the entourage effect. We remain committed to thoughtfully using the entire plant whenever possible rather than reducing wellness to a single isolated compound.
And our products have stood the test of time.
Our CBD tinctures, gummies, and signature Healing Salve became the backbone of Franny's Farmacy and helped build the company we are today. More than one million Healing Salves have been sold, becoming part of the daily wellness routines of customers across the country. These foundational products carried us through years of growth, COVID, hurricanes, industry disruption, and constant change—and they continue to represent the trust our customers place in Franny's.
But what truly sets us apart is the experience around the product.
Education has always been central to our mission. Our highly trained team is focused on customer service, product knowledge, and helping people make informed decisions about cannabinoids and plant-based wellness.
